Q&A’s about Limeted edition and Physical Warfare expansion packs.

EA wrote:
Q: Is the Physical Warfare Pack available in all regions, or just in the UK?
A: It will be available worldwide at select retailers. It was first announced in the UK. Exact details for other countries and retailers will be announced at a later date.

Q: Will Physical Warfare Pack imbalance the game?
A: The three exclusive items in the Physical Warfare Pack were specifically chosen not to be overpowered or imbalance or break the game in any way.

Q: Why do I want the Physical Warfare Pack?
A: Owning these items will give you a more varied arsenal, but it will not give you a significant advantage on the battlefield.

Q: Is the Back to Karkand expansion pack exclusive to pre-orders?
A: No. You can also buy it separately if you do not pre-order Battlefield 3. Back to Karkand will be available the exact same date after the launch of Battlefield 3 no matter if you pre-ordered or buy it separately.

Q: When will the Back to Karkand expansion pack be released?
A: We have not yet announced the Back to Karkand expansion pack release date.

Q: How much does the Back to Karkand Expansion pack cost?
A: We have not yet announced a price. However, it will be included in the Limited Edition at no extra charge.

Q: Do I have to choose between Back to Karkand and the Physical Warfare Pack as my pre-order bonus?
A: No. There is no way you can pre-order Battlefield 3: Limited Edition and not end up with the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge. On top of this, select retailers all over the world will carry the Physical Warfare Pack. Exact details for other countries and retailers will be announced at a later date.

Q: Why do you offer pre-order bonus items?
A: Because we believe in rewarding our core fanbase with special offers — such as giving them the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge.

BF3 FAQ

June 10th, 2011

Q: What can we expect for PC requirements to run BF3?
A: We’d love to tell you, but we’re not quite ready to release minimum specs just yet. I can tell you that the specs will not be anything crazy or Crysis-like. More details to come.

Q: Will we see the command rose or something similar?
A: That’s a good question! We do offer a lot of set up and customization on the PC for people to decide how they want to play. I’m not exactly sure how we’ll be doing the command rose.

Q: Will there be a server browser for consoles?
A: There will not be a server browser for consoles. We just recently announced “battle log” which is PC based but it’s a really friendly community tool. It allows you to branch out with friends and set up and join private matches. It’s also great for E-Sports, if you’re playing competitively, because it’s going to work with MLG and ESL and all those partners. So you’ll be able to authenticate matches without having to take screenshots and all that kind of stuff because the data feed is going to be encrypted and secure and be sent to them.

Q: How many weapon customizations can be expected?
A: Thousands! Probably tens or hundreds of thousands. This is the biggest battlefield we’ve ever made so the customization is huge and open. There’s three slots on every weapon so you can clip things on like a flashlight or flash suppressor, tons and tons of things. Optics… I can’t even believe how many optics they’ve gotten into the game.

Q: Will there be day and night cycles in multiplayer and if so how will they work?
A: Not so much cycles, instead we have day and night maps.

I like the sound of the day and night maps. I’ve never played a multiplayer night map, should be great fun.

New Information

April 5th, 2011

Here’s some info gathered about BF3.

One lighting probe from Frostbite 2′s lighting system “…contain(s) more lighting information than an entire level from Bad Company 2.”
This is the first non-EA Sports game to utilize ANT, an animation program that powers EA games like
FIFA, to create realistic animations and smoother transitions for AI and multiplayer characters.
A profile system, possibly similar to Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 1942, will be present.
Sounds such as weapons firing will be unique in different environments, different angles, and different distances.
A dev console will be present.
When a firearm is reloaded before the magazine is emptied, there will now be an extra round present, because the cartridge is still in the chamber of the weapon.
Adding to that, the charging handle or bolt is only pulled if the gun was emptied.
For the first time in the Battlefield franchise, the player is able to see their body, as one can see in the gameplay trailer when the character jumps down from a ventilation shaft.

PC will include 64 players
xBox 360 and Playstation 3 – 24 players
PC version is capable up to 256 players (modded)
The locations of the multiplayer maps, just like the campaign, will include Europe, the Middle East, and North America. More so the setting takes place in the cities of Paris, Tehran, and New York.
Destruction 3.0 will be introduced into the game. A step up from Bad Company 2′s Destruction 2.0, 3.0 allows for a much larger range of destructible objects (aside from buildings) and more realistic destruction.
The only confirmed playable faction at the moment are the US Marines, where the player will assume the role of at least one Marine, Staff Sergeant Henry “Black” Blackburn, of 1st Recon.
DICE confirmed at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo that the size of multiplayer maps for the console versions of the game would be scaled down, possibly having relation to the smaller player count.
A Battlefield 3 Limited Edition was formally announced at GDC 2011. A post on the Battlefield Blog confirmed that it will include early access to Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand, a multiplayer expansion based on Battlefield 2 content, including four classic maps, vehicles, and weapons, all at no extra cost
Jets / Helis / Vehicles included
Commander feature is no more. (removed)
12 hours single player mission.
Prone position included (with gun stands available)

Someone at DICE has clarified again that BF3 will only support DX10 or DX11, so it will only play on Windows Vista or Windows 7.
No minimum specs etc yet though

Battlefield 3 News

March 3rd, 2011

Battlefield 3 is due to be released this fall 2011, Focused towards the PC Mainly it will also be coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles. From the initial trailers we have all seeing BF3 looks incredible!
Battlefield 3 is being built using all the latest technologies and it will be the next version of the Frostbite engine! which has been used in the Bad company series of games.
The Frostbite 2 engine allows for far more advanced graphics combined with destructible environments.
What I love about this game personally is the very realistic lighting effects as DICE has focused on using lighting and animations to create a far more realistic BF3, for the animation side of things DICE are utilizing something from EA`s technology called ANT.
The is also a lot of focus on something called moment to moment mechanics where when you open fire the actual screen will shake!
In the single player game of Battlefield 3 DICE are putting a lot of effort into the artificial intelligence, there is going to be no respawning waves of enemies within the single player game.
DICE have made clear that there will definitely Jets in the game and also the ability to go prone! also BF3 will support up to 64 players on PC and consoles will support 24 players.
